About Duck in a Hat
Duck in a Hat was founded in October 2014 by a group of friends who learnt their theatrical curly-toed shoes entertaining the denizens of Durham University through the medium of the student theatre company, Ooook! Productions (which was also founded by Duck founder Tim Foster).
After initially getting distracted knitting hats for their duck, they finally got around to planning their first play, Terry Pratchett's Eric, which was premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015 and surprised everyone involved by being a runaway success. When the shock finally wore off, they realised that they'd really rather like to have another go... Duck in Hat Theatre's second production, Terry Pratchett's Mort was premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2016 and shocked everyone all over again by proceeding to completely sell out!
We are thrilled to announce our third production Terry Pratchett's Wyrd Sisters, a lovingly abridged version of Stephen Briggs's original adaptation of Sir Terry's classic novel, which will be performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017, from 14th-27th August.
The duck that is the company namesake started dabbling in the theatrical pond several years before Duck in a Hat was founded and has made more cameo appearances in plays then the entire of the Duck in a Hat team combined.
